Cocktail blast injures 4 in Naogaon

NAOGAON: At least four people including a child were injured cocktail blast in an abandon house in ATM field area of the district on Monday morning.

The injured are Mahima, 22, Morsheda, 23, Shanto, 16 and Koheli, 5-month.

Locals said that the Mahima went to clean the abandon house of late Ayub Hossain in the area at 09:00am and an abandoned cocktail blasted while she was sweeping the floor, leaving Mahima and three others critically injured.

Later, they were rushed to Naogaon Sadar Hospital. Mahima’s condition is critical.

Naogaon Police Super Kaiumuzzaman Khan told banglanews, “Police is investigating into the matter, but no one is held over the incident yet.”

Indigenous youth killed in Naogaon

NAOGAON: An indigenous youth was chopped to death at Bhagabanpur village under Dhamirhat upazila of the district on Sunday.

The victim is Krishno Mahator, 27, son of late Mahator of Bhagabanpur village.

Sources said on Saturday night someone called out Krishno from his house over mobile phone. On Sunday morning his body was found at a field.

Confirming the matter, Dhamirhat Thana Officer-in-Charge Ekramul Haque Sarker said police suspects he might have been chopped to death.

The body was sent to Naogaon Sadar Hospital Morgue after recover for autopsy, he added.

A murder case was lodged with Dhamirhat Thana in this connection.

AL men assault Atrai upazila UNO

NAOGAON: Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Atrai Hemanto Henry Kubi was assaulted by upazila Awami League men at his office area on Tuesday.

Sources said two groups of local Awami League men chased and counter chased one-another over a tender of a river lease around 12:00 noon.

Both the groups threw brickbats to each other during the clash, said spot account of the incident.

On information, the UNO rushed to bring the situation under control and some Awami League men assaulted him.

UNO Hemanto Henr Kubi confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Additional police were deployed in the area to avert further untoward situation, he added.

Road crash

Father-daughter killed in Naogaon

NAOGAON: A man and his seven-year-old daughter were killed and two others injured in a head-on collision between two motorbikes at Kapashtia bazaar on Saatra-Shibpur road under Niamatpur Upazila on Friday night.

The deceased were identified as Noor Nabi, 28, son of Abdus Salam of Kundil village under Niamatpur Upazila and his daughter Nusrat, 7.

Meanwhile, two injured Al-Mamun (24) and Maynul Haque (23) were admitted to Niamatpur Upazila Hospital.

Locals said that the motorbike riding on Noor Nabi along with his daughter collided head-on with another motorbike at Kapashtia bazaar while they were returning home from the bazaar, leaving Nusrat dead on the spot and three others injured critically.

Later, Noor Nabi died on the way to hospital.

Confirming the matter, Niamatpur police station Officer-in-Charge Obaidul Haque told banglanews, “Police recovered the bodies and seized the two motorbikes.”

No case was filed in the police station, he added.

Student electrocuted in Naogaon

NAOGAON: A school student was electrocuted in Bolramchak village under Atrai upazila of the district on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Shahin, 14, a student of class-IX and son of Abdul Malek of the area.

Sources said Shahin was repairing a ceiling fan at his bedroom and accidentally he came in contact with electricity that left him injured critically.

Later, he succumbed to his injuries on way to Atrai Upazial Health Complex.

Officer-in-Charge of Atrai Thana Abdul Latif Khan confirmed the matter to banglanews. An unnatural death case was filed in this connection, he said.

Naogaon cocktails blast injures 10

NAOGAON: At least 10 people were injured, including children, as three cocktails were blasted in a fair marking celebrating Pahela Baishakh at Atrai upazila of the district on Tuesday.
  
The incident took place on Tuesday night around 9:00pm. Injured were rushed to Upazila Health Complex.

Officer-in-Charge of Atrai Thana Abdul Latif Khan confirmed the matter and said situation is now under control.

Additional police forces were deployed in the area, he added.

BNP-AL clash injures 30 in Naogaon

NAOGAON: At least 30 people, including Manda police station officer-in-charge and other 4 cops, were injured in a clash between activists of BNP and Awami League at Prasadpur bazaar under Manda upazila of the district town.

Locals said, Manda thana BNP activists took out a pro-hartal procession in Prasadpur bazaar area around 11am. At the same time AL activists also gathered here to protest hartal that it created tension between the both sides.

At one stage, both groups engaged into a clash at about 11am and it continued till 11:45 am.

On information, police rushed to the spot and fired couple of tear shells and blank shots to control the situation, leaving 30 people including five cops injured.

Among the injured, the cops and others were taken treatment at Manda upazila Health Complex.

Officer-in-charge Abdullahel Baki confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Farmer killed in Naogaon clash

NAOGAON: A farmer was killed and four others injured in a clash between two groups over the distribution of land money in Bhabani village under Patnitala upazila of the district on Monday morning.

The deceased was identified as Abul Kalam Azad, 45, a resident of Chak Bhabani village.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Patnitala Thana Abul Kalam Azad said, “There was a longstanding dispute between Azad and his neighbor Rauf over the distribution of the money of a mortgage land.”

On Monday morning they locked into a clash with each other over the same matter, leaving Azad dead on the spot and injuring the others.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Naogaon Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
